My Story…

For the past seven years, I have had the privilege of running the Falmouth Road Race in support of Live4Evan—a remarkable organization that provides housing for families whose children are receiving cardiac care at Boston Children's Hospital.

When I first started running for Live4Evan, the mission deeply resonated with me, but I never imagined how much more personal it would become. What began as an opportunity to support families facing unimaginable challenges has grown into something that holds a special place in my heart. Each year, the Falmouth Road Race has become more than just a race—it has become a tradition that brings together my family, extended family, and close friends to rally around a cause that means so much to all of us. Running alongside people I love while supporting families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives is a reminder of the incredible impact this organization has and why we continue to come back year after year.

When our daughter, Jordyn, was diagnosed with fetal SVT at just 30 weeks gestation, Boston Children's quickly became part of our story. Since then, our family has made countless trips to Longwood for appointments, testing, surgeries, and follow-up care with specialists. We know firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and emotional toll that comes with having a child who needs specialized medical care. While we have been incredibly fortunate to have a home nearby enough to make those trips, many families travel from across New England and beyond, often facing the impossible challenge of finding an affordable place to stay while their child is hospitalized.

That is where Live4Evan makes an extraordinary difference.

By providing housing close to Boston Children's Hospital, Live4Evan allows families to focus on what matters most—being at their child's bedside. It removes one enormous burden during one of the hardest times a family can experience and ensures that parents never have to choose between being present for their child and the financial strain of temporary housing.

Every mile I run is for those families. It's for the parents sitting beside a hospital bed, the children fighting through procedures and recoveries, and the hope that no family has to face that journey alone.

If you're able, please consider supporting my run with a donation to Live4Evan. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps keep families together when they need it most.

Thank you for helping make a difference.

Description

ABOUT US: The Live4Evan Organization was formed out of a desire to recognize and support the critical relationship between a child and their loved ones. We believe that there is no greater gift to be given than a parent’s love to a child. We understand the importance of staying by a child’s side without having to worry about the additional burdens that life can place on us. And so, our organization works tirelessly to provide financial and emotional support to families by providing them with temporary housing while their child receives congenital cardiac treatment.

The Falmouth Road Race has been a crucial fundraiser for Live4Evan for the past 8 years. Over this time, the Live4Evan team members have collectively raised over $720,000. Thanks in large part to these efforts, Live4Evan is currently providing SEVEN patient-family apartments for families traveling to Boston for pediatric cardiac care. These apartments are next to Boston Children's Hospital and offer calm and comfort in the midst of such a difficult time.  The close proximity to the hospital ensures that caretakers can be at their loved ones bedside in a moment's notice. The need for patient-family housing is critical and Live4Evan is committed to increasing our apartment portfolio in order to help additional families.

OUR STORY: Live4Evan was founded in memory of Evan Girardi, who passed away his senior year of college from a heart arrhythmia. Evan was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) known as Corrected L-Transposition of the Great Arteries. Despite his heart condition, Evan lived his life to the fullest. Rather than allow Evan’s passing to put an end to the life and legacy that Evan had built, his friends and family formed Live4Evan to serve as a testament to the power of relationships and the importance of having loved ones by your side.
