I'm running the Falmouth Road Race in support of New England Donor Services — the organization behind one of the most critical and least visible roles in transplant medicine.

Donation can take more than one form: sometimes it's a living donor making a conscious choice, sometimes it's a donor family honoring a loved ones' sacrifice in a moment of grief. In both cases, NEDS is the team that takes that decision and turns it into a life saved — coordinating the medical evaluation, the matching, the logistics, and the transport, with a precision and urgency that the moment demands.

Right now, roughly 103,000 people in the U.S. are on the transplant waitlist. About 17 of them die each day waiting for a match. NEDS' work — expanding donor registration, training hospital staff, and guiding families through donation — closes that gap, one donation at a time.
