I’m proud to share that I’ll be running this year’s Falmouth Road Race in honor of my grandfather, who passed away in September.

During his final years, I was fortunate to be one of his caregivers. Watching Alzheimer’s disease gradually change someone you love is incredibly difficult and heartbreaking. Sadly, this disease affects far too many families—1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.

As a healthcare worker, I also care for patients living with dementia and see firsthand the profound impact this disease has on both patients and their families. These experiences have shown me just how devastating Alzheimer’s can be and why finding better treatments—and ultimately a cure—is so important.

I’m running not only in memory of my grandfather, but also in honor of everyone affected by Alzheimer’s and for those we have lost to this devastating disease. Every step I take is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting families, and helping advance the search for better treatments and a cure.
