My son Damian's medical journey has been anything but easy. Born with gastroschisis, Damian's life began with uncertainty. From being born out of state and making a medical move to Massachusetts in search of specialized care, to enduring more than 15 surgeries and countless inpatient hospital stays, our family has faced challenges we never imagined.

Over the years, we have learned to navigate life with a lifelong chronic illness — short bowel syndrome. While Damian is now more medically stable, living with a complex medical condition is a journey that never truly ends. Through every setback, Damian has shown incredible strength, resilience, and joy.

When Make-A-Wish granted Damian's wish to visit Disney, Universal, and Give Kids The World Village, they gave our family something truly priceless: unforgettable memories, joy, and a chance to simply be a family. It was an experience we will cherish forever.

Make-A-Wish has continued to be a meaningful part of our lives and community long after Damian's wish was granted. From family events and carnivals, to giving Damian the opportunity to throw the first pitch at a WooSox game and participate in Celtics Night, they continue to create magical experiences for wish families. We have also been deeply impacted by many friends in our community whose children have received wishes of their own.

This is why I'm running the Falmouth Road Race for Make-A-Wish. I believe in giving back. Our world is strengthened by incredible nonprofits like Make-A-Wish, and it is truly an honor to run in support of an organization that has given so much to our family and so many others.

Thank you for supporting my journey and helping grant life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses. As part of this community, we have also experienced the heartbreaking loss of friends. Their memories live on, and we are forever grateful that Make-A-Wish helped create moments of joy and memories that their families will cherish forever.
