My Story…
Family and Friends,
This is my eighth year running for Empower as a means to honor the life and motherhood of my dear friend, Lindsay Bugbee Crosby. Lindsay passed away on July 4, 2018, shortly after giving birth to her third child. Lindsay was strong, compassionate, and thoughtful. I cherish our conversations about everything from coaching to being a mother. In running this race, I am trying to emulate her selflessness and love of athletics and running. Every year, as I take on that final hill of the course, I know Lindsay would say, "Let's crush this."
In supporting Empower, I understand the opportunity to honor Lindsay's spirit and recognize that it can take a community to heal after such loss. Thank you to all of those who have helped me use this weekend to honor Lindsay every August for the past 8 years - I truly appreciate the opportunity.
So many of you have generously supported this effort in the past. I have found that while I'm running, I tend to reflect on how lucky I am to have my own support network in life. While I may not be getting faster each year, the experience never ceases to fill me with gratitude.
Thank you all from near and far for your support and encouragement. I look forward to crushing it in Lindsay's honor.

Join me in supporting Empower by helping me raise money as I take on the 2026 Falmouth Road Race!
Empower is a nonprofit with a very specific mission — to empower, support, and connect children and young adults (up through age 24) who have experienced the loss of a parent. Empower provides events that remind children they are not alone in their grief, and a unique one-on-one mentor program with positive role models from the community who help teach, “loss is survivable.”
Cara was nine years old when her mother Kit died of breast cancer and formed Empower as a grassroots movement out of the gratitude she had for all the layers of support her family received growing up. Empower operates with a lean staff and thousands of volunteers from across the globe and all programs remain at no charge to the family.
