My Story…
On August 16 I will be running 7 miles via a virtual entry in the Falmouth Road Race to benefit and bring attention as well as support for Dogs for Better Lives. Having served on their board of directors for some time I truly believe in the work DBL does to provide fully trained service dogs for autism support, hearing support, and a variety of facility dogs for health care, counsellors, and court support. These dogs are provided free of charge to qualified applicants and can prove to be life changing for many of the recipients!
Please check out their website at dogsforbetterlives.org as well as their Instagram and FB posting of the wonderful pups and dogs in training! Consider a donation of any amount to help Scout and me reach the goal of $1500. Give us a honk or wave if you see us out early on August 16 getting in the 7 miles before the heat can get us!
Description
Dogs for Better Lives trains and places Assistance Dogs free of charge with deaf or hard-of-hearing adults, children diagnosed with autism, and licensed professionals working with vulnerable communities so people with disabilities can lead safer and more independent lives. Our Northeast Training Campus opened in 2022 in Falmouth, and we're very excited to have a team of runners in the 53rd Falmouth Road Race, for a fourth year!
The average cost to train a service dog is $54,000 but we place our dogs at zero cost to our clients. Every dollar you raise for Dogs for Better Lives will go programmatic expenses.
