Running for a Purpose – Mookie’s Miracle

For many years, the Falmouth Road Race has been one of the most meaningful events on my calendar. I have had the privilege of running this incredible race while raising funds for a number of organizations doing important work in our communities. Each year the experience reminds me that when people come together for a cause greater than themselves, amazing things can happen.

Last year marked a special milestone for me personally and for the mission I care so deeply about. For the first time, Mookie’s Miracle was selected to participate in the Numbers for Nonprofits program, allowing us to field our own team and raise funds to support our work.

Mookie’s Miracle is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built from a life-changing experience that reshaped my outlook forever. On September 12, 2009, a devastating car accident nearly took my life and left me with severe injuries. Thanks to the heroic actions of a stranger who refused to give up on me and the incredible care I received from first responders and medical teams, I survived. That experience changed everything and ultimately inspired the mission behind Mookie’s Miracle — to share the power of resilience, gratitude, and a positive mindset with others. 

Today, through speaking in schools, communities, and organizations, Mookie’s Miracle works to inspire young people and adults alike to understand that they each carry the superpower of positivity within them. Our message is simple but powerful: with the right mindset, challenges can become opportunities and adversity can become fuel for growth.

The Falmouth Road Race is more than just 7 miles along the beautiful Cape Cod shoreline. For our team, it represents determination, perseverance, and the belief that every step forward can help make a difference in someone else’s life.
