The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering by providing emergency disaster relief, supplying nearly 40% of the nation's blood supply, teaching lifesaving health and safety skills, supporting military families, and delivering international humanitarian aid.

The American Red Cross operates through five core service areas: 

 Disaster Relief: Provides shelter, hot meals, emotional support, and financial assistance to victims of large-scale crises (hurricanes, floods) and local tragedies like home fires.  

Blood Donation: Manages the collection, testing, and distribution of blood and platelets to hospitals for accident victims, surgery patients, and those battling illnesses. Find locations to donate or host a drive via American Red Cross Blood Services.  

Training & Certification: Offers nationwide classes in CPR, first aid, AED use, and water safety (lifeguarding). You can find local courses on American Red Cross Training. 

Support for Military Families: Operates a global emergency communication network to connect deployed service members with their families, while also providing emergency financial aid and deployment support.  

International Services: Partners with the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network to deliver disaster response, reconnect separated families, and implement public health programs worldwide.
