My Story…

Finding out your baby isn't "normal" is not something a parent ever wants to hear. At 15 months old, after missing many milestones, our daughter Mackenzie was diagnosed with having an overgrowth syndrome which caused a brain malformation called hemimegalencephaly (HME). She is at high risk for epilepsy/seizures, it has caused deformities as well as she is globally developmentally delayed both physically and mentally. Despite all of that, at age 12 now, she has a big personality and is one of the happiest and loving humans on the planet.

Over the years, she has undergone countless tests and surgical procedures which has meant our family has spent a lot of time at Gillette and Children's hospitals. The Ronald McDonald House provided us a quiet place to step away and eat a meal - a lot of times we wouldn't have even eaten had it not been for RMH down the hall. They also send out volunteers to drop off activity kits to kids who are room-bound and even stock the snacks and coffee found in the family lounges.

We are forever grateful for the services they provide to families during the hardest of times.

This will be my 13th year running the RBC Race for the Kids and I would love your support! Any donation amount is welcome - your money is going towards families just like mine.
