My Story…
This is my Why.
This race is much more than just crossing a finish line for me. This race is personal.
These 13.1 miles are for every chemo treatment. Every radiation session. For the days I wish I could take the pain away. And for every hard day my Dad has had to face. So if he can keep fighting, I can keep running.❤️
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare cancer of the bile ducts. And it is a cancer my Dad has been fighting with incredible strength and faith for six years now. If you know my Dad, you know he is a man of faith, family, character, and compassion. He is someone that loves hard and prays over everything. He raised me on 60's music, Perry Como's greatest Christmas hits, and loves their tree put up right after Halloween. Why so early? Be then you enjoy the colored lights longer.
Cancer has changed so much for us. But it has never defined who he is. He is the heart of our family. He's the person that can make you laugh even when you didn't know you needed it. And has always gave more than he receives. And damn, he just always loves so fiercely. Through all this, my Mom has been there handling everything with such strength, love and bravery. We see you Mom 🤟🏼❤
There is an upside to everything.
Some days it's hard to find, but I'll never stop seeing all the small wins and blessings. From enjoying my afternoon coffee and dinner at my parents house everyday, to our nightly FaceTime calls every night. These are the ordinary moments that have become some of the most meaningful parts of my life.
This is my why. This is for you Dad.❤️
If cancer has touched your family, I'm running for you too. We might not be able to fight this disease for them, but we never let them fight alone. So here's to showing up and being strong when all you want to do is yell F*uck Cancer!
If you are able to donate, send a prayer for my Dad, or just cheer me on, I would be forever grateful.
Every dollar goes to an amazing organization, Craines Crew. Lisa's charity funds research, mentorship/support, and helps warriors navigate the medical system . She is also a long term survivor, who has made it her mission to help. I am blessed to call her a friend.
Much Love 🙌
