MEMORIES WITH MIMI

When I set my goal to run a relay in the Akron Marathon, my cousins (Ashley, Alex, Kali and Lili) quickly stepped up to join my team. For our whole lives, we've loved, supported and carried eachother through the highs and lows of life, so it is only fitting we do the same in this new endeavor. Our grandparents instilled the importance of family in us, and we take that to heart as cousins and friends.

Our mimi lost her battle with Alzheimers, as so many among us have. Every year, a team of us joins the Columbus Walk to end Alzheimers in October, praying for a cure. This year, we run too. I'm sure Mimi would be equal parts proud and shocked to hear what we are doing. Running doesn't necessarily run in the family!

This relay is in honor of setting goals, achieving things you never thought possible, and doing hard things because we can. 

We run in memory of Mimi Sheafer, Grandpa Pickett, Mary Walter, Heather Menefee and so many others who have touched our lives before losing theirs to Alzheimers.
