My Story…
Hi everyone! Thank you for coming to my fundraising page. I decided to run a half marathon shortly after completing my first 10 km race at the Rainbow Run this June. I knew the First Responders Half Marathon was the right race for me because I've seen so many of my peers burn out in frontline positions. Whether my peers are former military, nurses, social workers or program support in underrepresented neighbourhoods, I want them to be heard, seen and supported.
The story here isn't my race, but the men, women, two spirit and nonbinary folks that wake up every day to keep us safe, healthy and happy. OSI-CAN does great work to support recovery through peer and professional support. If you cannot support my fundraising efforts, please take the time to spread awareness of this organization and the effects of trauma and Occupational Stress Injuries. Every donation and bit of awareness helps, so thank you.
With much love,
-Emma Lilly Swan
