My Story…
As the Jodi's Race Director and the Associate Director for the Colorado Gynecologic Cancer Alliance, I have been witness to the amazing programs we offer to people facing a gyn cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. I've also felt a lot of loss.
That's where our mission is ever important. Raising Awareness of the symptoms of various types of GYN cancer is the only thing, at the moment, that will truly help detect these cancers sooner to save more lives.
There is no prevention, except for the HPV vaccine to help prevent against cervical cancer. There is no test, except for the pap smear to detect cervical cancer. And, there is NO 100% certain cure.
Treatment, once the cancer is detected, is the only option. Major surgery, grueling chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments aren't even a guarantee that the cancer will recur.
I do this to honor my family & friends that have passed; Auntie Delores, Friends: Denise, Sarah, Tina and countless more, along with those tremendous survivors that are thankfully too many to name!
