Growing up in the projects, I learned at a young age what it meant to be responsible, independent, and resilient. As the “perfect sibling,” I often felt the pressure to figure things out on my own. With my parents incarcerated, I had to navigate life without the support and stability many young people deserve. I found myself taking on random jobs just to get by while trying to figure out my future.

That experience is one of the reasons my work with YouthWorks means so much to me. Today, I have the opportunity to support young people who remind me of who I once was. Through YouthWorks, we are raising funds to provide young people with meaningful internship opportunities, educational support, and a chance to see a future beyond their current circumstances.

I know firsthand how easy it can be for young people to lose hope or feel like they have to take whatever opportunity comes their way just to survive. I want to help change that.
