James’ Journey

We found out at our anatomy scan back in January 2024 that our baby had something going on with his heart. We went to The HEARTest Yard clinic for an echo and received the diagnosis that he was single ventricle. There were still a lot of unknowns until he was born in May of 2024, but he was diagnosed with HRHS, TGA and PAPVR. 

At 2 weeks old, James had his first open heart surgery for the Norwood procedure. We spent 2 weeks recovering in the hospital and then went home. The HEARTest Yard and the CHAMP program helped with our transition to home and gave us peace of mind until he was old enough for the Glenn procedure. 

James had his second open heart surgery, the Glenn procedure, at 6 months old. Thanks to The HEARTest yard we had free in home nursing to help for a couple of months after his Glenn procedure. James is thriving and doing so well and hitting his developmental milestones. We are thankful for the neurodevelopmental clinic to help us make sure that James is getting any extra assistance, if needed. We are so thankful for the world class care that James is able to receive so close to home.
