In the past, whenever I heard the term ‘human trafficking’, I assumed it was something that primarily existed outside of our borders – and yet, as I’ve come to learn, it is all too-prevalent in our country. It's impossible to be cognizant of the staggering stats on human trafficking in Canada and not be compelled to take action:

*93% of sex trafficking victims in Canada were born in Canada.

*The average age of entry into sex trafficking is just 13 years old.

But organizations like The Joy Smith Foundation prove there is hope with over 7,000 lives supported by the foundation's survivor-focused programs.
