My Story…

I’ve lived with pain for as long as I can remember.

From the very first time I got my period, something felt off—but like so many others, I was told it was “normal.” I learned to push through it.

That changed when I was 21.

The pain became unbearable. I started fainting—at the gym, on the TTC, even walking down the street. I was sent to the ER multiple times, only to be dismissed. Male doctors told me period pain was normal, to take Advil, and sent me home.

But I knew something wasn’t right.

I went back to my family doctor and pushed. I told her clearly: this is not normal. That decision changed everything. She referred me to an OBGYN.

For the first time, I felt heard.

After explaining my symptoms, she immediately suspected endometriosis. Finally, there was an explanation for what I had been experiencing for years.

We tried different treatments—birth control, then an IUD. The IUD gave me my life back for three years. No pain. No fear of collapsing in public. I felt normal again.

But when it stopped working, everything came back.

Now I’m navigating medications, alternative therapies, and the unpredictability of chronic pain while waiting for surgery.

Running this race isn’t just about crossing a finish line. It’s about taking back control, raising awareness, and standing up for everyone who has been told their pain isn’t real.

Because it is.

And we deserve better.
