My husband Tyler and I are here to support a cause that is very personal to the both of us. I don’t like sharing my personal life, but here’s a part of my story. 

Ever since being a young teenager I struggled with pelvic pain and painful periods. As time went on it continued to get more severe, and Doctors consistently pushed many different birth controls and medications. 

At 25 I started to get extremely sick and go through debilitating pain flares that sometimes lasted weeks. At night I would wake up screaming in pain, during the day I would go and cry in the bathroom. It was starting to affect my everyday life in a plethora of ways. 

The 5th or so doctor I saw told me I had something called Endometriosis, which is incurable and only can be managed by pain meds and pelvic floor physio. 

I took this info and did my own extensive research into what endometriosis is and how it can be managed. I found a specialist in Canmore who specialized in excision surgery and pelvic pain management, and had my doctor refer me to her office. She was the first doctor who listened to me and validated my struggle, and I successfully had excision surgery September 2023 removing endometriosis lesions from 4 different areas of my abdomen. 

Unfortunately my story with endo doesn’t end there. Lesions grow back with time, and I also suffer from endometriomas, which are painful blood-filled cysts that form on my ovaries which lead to many other complications. 

Bringing a change to Women’s Health is very important to me. It took me over 10 years to get an actual diagnosis after being written off by so many doctors, and unfortunately for many other women it is so much longer.
