100% of this event proceeds fund medical fellowships at the UCSF Headache Center to train more migraine-specialist neurologists to close the gap in the headache-specialist shortage. 

Thanks to our collective efforts, over the past 4 years, the number of board-certified headache specialists in the U.S. has increased by 16% 

Severe migraine attacks are classified by the WHO as the 4th most disabling illness, on par with dementia, quadriplegia, and active psychosis. 

Migraine is the 2^nd largest cause of disability worldwide. 

Yet, migraine research to fund a cure is the least funded of all neurological conditions, mostly because it affects 3 times as many women as men. Only 2 hours (!!) of the 3-year curriculum of U.S. medical schools is devoted to this incurable & debilitating brain disease.

This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart (and my nervous system, and my brain) since it has impacted me personally greatly. It devastated my life, made me abandon the profession I love and close the professional practice I built from scratch & cherished. It affected my relationships with family, friends and my own self. It is merciless, spontaneous and utterly overwhelming.

I want to raise $2,000 this year, because we do not have enough doctors in this field to support people living with migraine brain disease.
