My Story…
I’m a first-generation Canadian, raised by immigrant parents who became Canadian citizens. They arrived with hope, adapted, built friendships, and started their own successful business. But becoming proud Canadians mattered most. My dad came from rural China seeking better opportunities. Here, he found understanding. He gave me the love of hockey not just as a sport, but as a way to connect with others and feel part of something bigger.
I’m grateful for their success, but I wonder: what if today’s newcomer resources were available back then? Imagine the greater impact they could have experienced.
That’s why I’m running to support Action for Healthy Communities. Through employment supports and community connections, they help newcomers access the same opportunities that shaped my family’s journey. I want the next generation of immigrants to have the tools, support, and welcoming community my parents didn’t always have.
