My Story…
As some of you may know, I am a trained mental health counselor and am passionate about raising mental health awareness, reducing stigma surrounding mental illness, and increasing access to mental healthcare for all populations.
Not only am I a passionate advocate, I am also one among the millions of people affected by mental illness and related challenges. I have used running as a tool to combat some of the mental health challenges I face, and have found it to be extremely healing. Running has provided me with an outlet that challenged the unhealthy coping strategies I had developed and has become an important part of my wellness journey.
I stumbled upon Still I Run while searching for a running group to join in my area. I was excited to discover an organization that combined two things that have had a profound impact on my life: running and mental health advocacy. However, I was disappointed to learn that while there was a cohort in my hometown of Pittsburgh, there was not yet a chapter in the Baltimore region.
As I continued following the organization, I realized that if I wanted a local community like this to exist, I could help create it. I applied to start a Still I Run chapter in the Baltimore region and was surprised and honored to learn I was accepted. Being able to help build a supportive, stigma-free community where people can connect through running while prioritizing their mental health is incredibly meaningful to me!
What drew me to Still I Run is its mission to promote the benefits of movement for mental wellness while reminding people that they are never alone in their struggles. Through community, connection, and shared experiences, we can help break down barriers and encourage more open conversations about mental health.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting a cause that is deeply meaningful to me. Together, we can continue breaking down barriers, challenging stigma, and creating a world where everyone feels empowered to seek help and prioritize their mental well-being.
