My Story…

I was diagnosed with breast cancer after putting my hand on a lump on my RIGHT upper chest while in the waiting room in the breast center waiting to get my LEFT side rechecked with another mammogram and ultrasound (which happened almost yearly on one side or the other due to dense breast tissue- I had just had surgery last year on my left breast so I thought it was that). I brought it to their attention, and this prompted further exam. I then had a biopsy and was diagnosed with ER/PR positive and Her2 negative invasive ductal carcinoma. This spun my world into genetic testing, MRIs, more biopsies, bone scans, surgery, and waiting.... I waited 4 weeks after my surgery to find out I needed chemo to reduce my chance of reoccurrence. This was not expected but I kept going and rang the bell Sept 11th. I was diagnosed with BRACA2 genetic mutation which influenced my treatment plan and helped my family to get tested to save a life. I am grateful to God for showing me the spot and saving me.
