So many people do not understand what Metastatic Breast Cancer is or why this walk is so important. I was just shy of 42 with a 10 year old son when I was diagnosed. Hearing you have cancer, is a difficult pill to swallow at any age, but telling your child is a different nightmare. To date there is NO cure for metastatic breast cancer. No bells to be rung or remission celebration party. There is only how long can I get out of each treatment and what are the side effects? You literally schedule your life around fighting cancer. Less than 10% of traditional breast cancer fundraising goes to research MBC. This needs to change, as so many breast cancer patients also have a reoccurrence that is metastatic at a later date.
