Help Viktor raise money

Hi everyone,

My name is Viktor, and this September I will be taking part in the Nova Scotia Harbour Swim for United Way for the second time.

This event is more than just a swim for me.

Few months back, I left Germany and started a new life in Canada. Like many newcomers, I arrived with a suitcase full of hopes and dreams, but also a lot of uncertainty. I had to leave behind familiar places, friends, and the life I knew. Starting over in a new country is exciting, but it can also be lonely, overwhelming, and challenging.

What made the difference was the kindness of people and the strength of the community that welcomed me. Halifax and Nova Scotia have become my home, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities, support, and friendships I have found here.

That is why I am swimming again this year.

United Way helps people facing some of life's toughest challenges, whether it's struggling to afford housing, putting food on the table, coping with mental health challenges, escaping isolation, or rebuilding after difficult circumstances. Their work helps create stronger communities where no one has to face hardship alone.

As someone who knows what it feels like to start over and rely on the support of others, this cause is deeply personal to me.

When I arrived in Canada, people I had never met helped me feel welcome and at home. Today, I am swimming to help ensure others receive that same kindness, support, and opportunity.

The swim will be challenging, but it is nothing compared to the challenges many people in our communities face every day. If my jump into Halifax Harbour can help make a difference in someone's life, then every stroke will be worth it.
