My Story…
My mom was diagnosed in September of 2024. Her first symptom was unexplained onset type 2 diabetes. This was the first sign my mom got exactly a month before we went on her journey for an accurate diagnosis. The doctor shrugged it off, prescribed metformin and sent her on her way (with no real information on how to treat diabetes). Two weeks after our wedding she had intense headaches, fatigue, and itchy feet / skin. We all thought she was allergic to the medication. It wasn’t until she became jaundice that we knew something was really wrong.
I wish we would’ve known the signs earlier because we became incredibly lucky to have caught hers so soon. Watching my mom go through the impossible shows how much of a badass she is. I believe in my heart along with her strength and determination that Early detection helped save her life even as her journey continues.
