Welcome to the FAQ section for the Winnipeg New Years run! Below are some of the most frequently asked questions with regards to the Winnipeg edition of the New Years Run.
Q: When is Kit pick up?
A: Kit pick up takes place at the Regent Running Room located at 1615 Regent Ave West during the following times;
Friday January 8th - 3-6pm
Saturday January 9th 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Q: What is a kit pick up?
A: Kit pick up is where you pick up your swag included in your entry fee and your race bib.
Q: Can i just pick everything up race morning?
A: No, with space limitations we can not facilitate race morning pick up.
Q: Is there a space for my kids to hang out while I run the 5km?
A: While we can not provide child care, if your children are old enough be left unattended, they are welcome to hang out in the store and enjoy their post run refreshment if they signed up for the 1 km kids run. We can not supervise.
Q: What is the route?
A: Please see the route map under the appropriate menu tab.
Q: What happens if it's really cold? Is there a temperature cut off?
A: We run in all weather. If you feel that the temperature is too chilly for you you are welcome to run a shorter version of the event or pick up your medal and run a satellite version of the New Years Run.
Q: I missed the cut off date to transfer to the virtual event? Can i still run it virtually?
A: We understand that life happens, while we can not officially transfer you to the virtual event if the deadline has passed, please reach out to the Race Director at coralrrmbevents@gmail.com and she can arrange for your kit and medal to be pulled and picked up at another time from the Regent Running Room.
Q: My child is registered for the 1 km, as a parent do i have to register in the 1 km with them? Or can I run with them unregistered?
A: Children under a certain age must be accompanied by an adult, the parent does not have to signup for the 1 km.
Q: Will the courses be marked?
A: Yes, the course will be marked with signs and chalk, but it is every runners responsibility to familiarize themselves with the course prior to race day.
Q: What time do the runs start?
A: The kids run will start at 11am and the 5 km will start after the final child has returned (11:15-11:25)
Q: Is this route a closed course?
A: No. This is an open course so we encourage runners to stay to the sidewalks and pathways.
Q: Is this a timed event?
A: No, this is a fun run. It is not chip timed
Q: I'm A slow runner, is there a course cut off?
A: No. our finish line will stay up until the final finisher crosses.
Q: Can I walk this event?
A: Absolutely
Q: I haven't heard anything from you about race day? Are you going to send any communications out at all?
A: Odds are fairly high that in the month leading into race day, there have been a few emails. Please check your spam folder as it has happened that Race Roster emails get filtered into spam until you mark us as a safe sender.
Q: Can i register on Race Day?
A: No unfortunately we can not process race day registrations
Q: Is there water on course?
A: No this 5km is self supported, please make sure you bring your own hydration needs.
