My Story…
Hi, I’m Christine, and this spring I’ll be running the Pittsburgh Marathon for something that’s been close to my heart for years: the Society of St. Vincent de Paul here in the Pittsburgh area. I’ve been part of St Gertrude parish conference in Vandergrift for over a decade, and I’ve seen firsthand how often they are the quiet, behind‑the‑scenes help when a family is out of options.
Our neighbors come to St. Vincent de Paul when the lights are about to be shut off, when there’s no food in the cupboards, when they’re choosing between rent and medicine, or when they just need someone to listen and pray with them. The funds we raise go right back into our local community in the form of home visits, food, clothing, and emergency assistance for people who would otherwise fall through the cracks.
Training for 26.2 miles will stretch me, but it’s nothing compared to what many of the people we serve are carrying every single day. As I log these miles, I’m also thinking about my son Gregory and the example I’m setting for him about what it means to love your neighbor in practical, concrete ways.
Every dollar you give is a real “yes” to a neighbor in need, and it means so much to me to be able to put my miles to work for them. Thank you for supporting St. Vincent de Paul, for praying with us, and for cheering me on to the finish line in Pittsburgh.
Description
Please support my participation in the 2026 DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend and help me raise funds for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Pittsburgh! Every dollar goes directly to helping local families in crisis—providing food, clothing, housing assistance, and hope. Together, we can make sure our neighbors don’t have to face hardship alone. Your gift will make every step of my journey count toward changing lives right here in our community.
