My Story…
This year, I’m running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer’s research and care — a cause that is incredibly personal to me.
Alzheimer’s disease has affected my family in ways that are difficult to put into words. My grandmother and both of my great-grandmothers were impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related form of dementia. I’ve seen firsthand how this disease doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed — it affects entire families, changing relationships, creating difficult moments, and taking away pieces of the people we love.
Running this half marathon is my way of turning those experiences into something positive. Every mile will be dedicated to the women in my family who were affected by this disease, and to the families who continue to navigate the challenges that come with Alzheimer’s.
I’m running to honor their memories, raise awareness, and help support the fight toward better treatments, prevention, and ultimately a cure.
