My Story…
There are going to be a lot of people swimming, and let's face it - someone has to be last. That's more than likely going to be me. That would be a fine claim to fame for me. I plan to finish, unless the lake gets really cranky that day. If I'm not quite slowest, don't tell me. Let me have this one.
I learned to swim as a child, in lakes as well as pools, and liked it. Around 45 years ago I just stopped swimming. I took it up again about 3 years ago, and have come to enjoy open water swimming. It comes with a special sense of accomplishment. Since I heard about the Point to La Pointe swim, it's become a major goal for me. It's the major thing I want to accomplish before knee surgery, because I don't want to lose the training I've put in so far.
I appreciate that the Bayfield Area Rec Center puts on this event every year, and would like to show that appreciation by helping to raise funds for them.
