2026 Mader Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest

Swimmer Tow Floats

$30.00

Price is inclusive of the cost of the item, mandatory charges and fees

Swimmers have the option of using a Swimmer Tow Float OR having a paddler.

  • The tow float goes around the swimmer’s waist (adjustable) and is pulled on the surface of the water behind the swimmer; it does not interrupt the swimmer's stroke.
  • The tow float helps with swimmer visibility; it is useful for skippers navigating between swimmers while keeping an eye on their own swimmer/s.
  • A tow float can be used in place of a paddler, either for the full event or for sections of the event (e.g., when the paddler needs a break).
  • ULTRAMARATHON SWIMMERS (Solo and Tandem) swimmers must have a paddler for the first 5km loop even if also using tow floats - this is for feeding and safety as support boats are not allowed on this section. Upon rejoining the direct 19.7km course to Rottnest Island, these swimmers can choose to use tow floats and/or paddlers.
  • DUOS AND TEAMS must have a minimum of two (2) tow floats so that both swimmers are wearing tow floats during changeovers (i.e. swimmers should not be stopping to exchange tow floats during a changeover).
  • ULTRAMARATHON AND SOLO SWIMMERS are not permitted to hold on to the tow float for assistance. Doing so will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Only Official Port to Pub tow floats can be used and must be properly marked with individual/team name, competitor number, and emergency phone number.

Tow floats will be included in your race pack given to you at one of the Event Briefings.
