Welcome to Loonie Loops, New Brunswick's first 24 hour trail race, in support of YMCA Strong Communities Fund!
Whether you're a runner, a hiker, fast or slow - it does not matter. Everyone is welcome to join in on this trail party! This style is not so much about who gets the most laps (although there will still be prizing), it's more about personal goals and pushing yourself beyond what you thought was capable. You decide when you want a break, you decide when it's over, and you decide what pace. With an aid station every 3kms, you are in full control of your destiny!
If we learned anything from racing in a monsoon last year it was that 140-150 participants is the sweet spot! It was the perfect number to make it feel like a private neighbourhood trail party with all your good buds. For this reason, we have put a cap of 140 participants this year, with another 5-10 spots available for sponsors. That cap, matched with the success of 2023, we anticipate a fairly quick sell out. If you register, but find out you cannot make it, please transfer to someone who can. Transfer details below.
NEW IN 2024: This year we are offering on-site camping the night before the race! The cost is $10, and all funds go back to the YMCA Strong Communities Fund. We would prefer that you add the "camping" option during registration, but if you can't commit now, you can purchase from the store at any time before registration closes. Simply access the "store" at the top right, and purchase camping. There are no assigned sites, but lots of space. First come, first serve on your location of choice. More details will be emailed prior to race day. If you are unsure if you will camp, you can come back at a later date and add it.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE!
Three fun options to choose from: 6hrs, 12hrs, and 24hrs.
The trail, which is entirely on private land, is a 3km loop around Ashburn Lake in Saint John, N.B. The loop has 90 meters (295ft) of climbing/descending per lap on moderately technical trail. Most of the climbing happens on one small hill that takes you up to a lookout and features a great view of Ashburn Lake and Loon Island. It is an absolute gem of a trail, one that is worthy of spending 24hrs on. See pricing options below.
