This Festival is based on local legend.
Every summer a new Tom Zombie is chosen by a panel of judges to carry the curse for another year and keep our town safe.
This is followed by a Zombie Walk to the downtown core where a ceremony will be held to transfer the curse from the previous year's Tom Zombie to the new.
The festival includes bands, booths and most importantly fun.
All proceeds go to the It Takes 2 Youth Leadership Institute.

Choosing Tom Zombie Process
The official criteria for choosing Tom Zombie every year is based on a point system. If you come through the competition with the highest points, based on an average awarded by a panel of five judges, you will be chosen to carry the burden of being the year’s Tom Zombie. May fate be merciful toward you?

Being scary (freaky, crazy, amazing make-up, amazing acting, etc.) NOTE: Tom Zombie is able to terrify all those who see him through presence, intensity and aesthetic awe. |

Being attractive, (handsome, well built, symmetrical, muscular, etc.) NOTE: Tom Zombie was a handsome man while alive and is said to have retaned those good looks even after death. Hard shoes to fill making the dead look comely but Tom was said to have done it. |

Being beguiling, (presence, finesse, charm, empathy, etc.) NOTE: Tom was an amazing person with boundless charm and appeal on multiple fronts. Translated into his undead state he has qualities that are hard to pinpoint but powerful all the same. |

Being comedic, (dance, gymnastics, amazing feats, etc.) NOTE: though odd, it is said that Tom could enter the dreams of those he focused on and lull people into a false sense of security rendering his victims susceptible to suggestion. |

Being unique, different, (surprising, interesting, over-the-top, etc.) NOTE: Tom always stood out in any crowd, even a crowd of fellow undead. Bonus points can be awarded for originality and uniqueness. |
