Freaky 5K Trail Race

On Sunday, October 27th runners will take to the wooded hills behind the VYCC’s West Monitor Barn for a spooky, thrilling race approximately 5 kilometers in length. The course takes runners through dark forests, open meadows, single-track trails, and the VYCC’s working farm.

Runners begin in front of the historic West Monitor Barn; head up and across the fields on farm roads; and at approximately 0.4 mile enter into the woods and across a narrow bridge. The next 0.5 mile is a steep climb (approximately 400 feet) on an old logging road to gain Huckleberry Ridge. Then, an out-and-back loop via the VAST trail takes runners onto pastureland before heading back to the VYCC woods where they’ll traverse the ridge and descend on flowing single track trails behind the East Monitor Barn.

This timed race will start at 10:00 am and all proceeds will support VYCC programs (cut-off for day of registration is 9:30am). A shorter run for kids (free!) will begin at 9:15 am. After the race, join us and our sponsors in our historic barn for refreshments and prizes, including one for the best costume! The cost to register is $35. All runners receive a goodie bag and a swag item. All proceeds of the race will go to the VYCC’s youth development and environmental conservation efforts!

**The kids race is free! Sign up under the parent’s registration – select the number of children who will be running. All kids race participants will receive a small prize.

**Corporate running teams are for corporate groups of five or more runners. To register, designate a "Team Leader" who can fill out the required registration information (use company info). Select "create team" and add teammates by selecting "add participant." For each, make sure you select "join team" to receive the registration discount ($5 per person). The Team Leader will pay for all runners on the team at the time of registration. Student discount and corporate discount cannot be combined.

**School running teams: You do not need to create a team on the registration form. To receive your discounted registration rate of $25, simply select the student option for each runner. Student discount and corporate discount cannot be combined.
