To help children with cancer and to make those tough days better, we are organizing our 2nd Annual Santa Claus for a Cause 5K run/walk to raise money and collect toys for our Christmas Gift Giveaway event on December 20th.
The Children Cancer Foundation, Inc is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization in Fort Myers, FL. (Tax I.D.: 271463144) Our mission is to support children with cancer and their families in various ways in order to make those hard times easier. One of these ways is to organize special events that help children forget about the hospital and the treatments and experience fun and joy instead.
In May 2013 we took eight families, who have been touched by childhood cancer, to Discovery Cove in Orlando to swim with dolphins. The experience has become a lifelong memory for all the little patients and their families. From the raised money we again would like to organize an unforgettable, life changing experience for them.
The admission fee for the 5K is $15 for children under 18 as well as for FGCU students with valid student I.D. and $20 for adults. Santa Claus hats will be given out for free to create unity in addition to some other giveaways. Hundred percent of the admission fee is going towards the Children Cancer Foundation, Inc. Last year we had over a 100 runners, but this year we are expecting to at least double this number.
Make sure to get there before 9 am to have enough time to check in and warm up. You can come as early as 7:30-8am to check in.

Toys for our Christmas Gift Giveaway
Participants are also encouraged to bring unwrapped, new toys which we will give out to children at our Christmas Gift Giveaway on December 20th that will take place at Chuck E. Cheese in Fort Myers, FL.
The Gift Giveaway is meant to create a special, magical Christmas for the little patients and their families.
We are inviting children with cancer and their families from the Southwest Florida area and children who are treated at the Golisano Children`s Hospital of SWFL to come, meet Santa, have fun and choose from plenty of toys. Besides choosing toys they like, they can have a great time palying with many different games at Chuck E. Cheese.
We understand that families` financial situation become very deprived while paying for treatments, so they are not able to get the desired gifts for their children or enjoy Christmas. We would like to make sure that Christmas will be just as special for these children and families as it is for everyone else.
We appreciate any toys you may bring and we are sure that all the kids will love them.
