Star Valley Half Marathon

We encourage all who can, to pick up on Friday night, thus making Saturday morning as stress free as possible. If you are traveling to Star Valley Saturday morning, we will have a limited time available for packet pick-up.

When: Friday, July 11th at 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 12th at 5:15 a.m. - 5:45 a.m.

Where: North side of Thayne Elementary School

Driving Directions: Travel on US 89 into Thayne.

From the South: Drive 2 blocks north of the Maverik.

Turn east on Wright Street.

Follow Wright Street to the school.

From the North: As you enter downtown Thayne, Wright

Street is the first east bound street.

If you see the Maverik, you have traveled

too far. Turn around and follow the

directions above. :)

There will be NO parking at the finish line. There will be parking on VanNoy Avenue at the LDS Church, park, or old elementary school. If you must park on the road, park legally, not blocking any driveways.

You will board the buses that will be parked near the finish line which happens to be the same place you picked up your packets.

*Buses will begin loading at 5:30 a.m. and will leave as they fill up. The last bus will leave no later than 6:00 a.m. DO NOT BE LATE!

Do not spend time looking for your chip as it is glued onto the back of your bib! Sweet!! However, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BIB NUMBER SHOWING IN ORDER TO BOARD THE BUS!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!

When you arrive at the starting line, it will most likely be chilly, so bring clothes to stay warm. Right before the race starts, you will want to ditch those extra clothes. Put your clothes and anything else you don’t want to carry for 13.1 miles in the bag we have given you with your name on it. Place it in the designated clothing drop off spot at the starting line area. Your clothing bag and contents will magically appear in a designated area at the finish line. There will be no clothing drops along the race route, so once the race starts, don’t shed any more clothes as you will never see them again!

We will have portable toilets at the start and finish line. There will be at least 2 toilets at each aid station. We are planning on four aid stations at approximately miles 3, 6, 8.5 and 11. Exact locations are based on space available and safety. Each aid stations will provide water and sports drink. Aid Station 6 and 11 will provide cut up fruit. Aid Station 8.5 will be handing out Otter Pops to cool you down and put a smile on your face!

The roads are NOT closed for this race. This means you’ll be sharing the road with other motorists and some occasional grazing cows. PLEASE WATCH FOR TRAFFIC (and cows) and keep to the left side of the road running against traffic. Please keep your music turned down so you are aware of your surroundings.

We highly encourage you to invite everyone you know to come and watch you in all your glory along the route, as well as at the finish line. Have them follow the same parking guidelines as outlined above. Please note, there will not be a dinner at the packet pick up or a breakfast available at the finish line. Have them plan accordingly.

We are hosting a FREE kids fun run the morning of the race. We want to get all future Star Valley Half Marathon runners excited! It will start promptly at 7:45 a.m. and should be done well before our first half marathon runners finish. The kids run starts and finishes at the half marathon finish line. All ages are welcome to walk or run this fun little loop. Each kid will receive a water bottle and little prize for finishing.
