The Dirty Dash ...
The Dirty Dash is Waterloo Region's favourite mud run. It's 4 & 8km of cross country running, famous for it's mud pit!
Since 2010, cross country runners, families, and runners of all kinds have taken to the trails and the mud pit for an awesome event in support of the Special Olympics KW. Read the recap from the 2013 Dirty Dash.
The only criticism? You want MORE MUD!
...now EXTREME!
Because you can't get enough of the Dirty Dash, we're introducing the brand-new EXTREME Dirty Dash!
What's different?
First of all: it's a whole lot more mud. We'll crank up the mud pit you know and love, and add a mud swamp along the course, and add 500m of river running. But what really separates the mud here is that it's two full loops of two miles; you run through the mud and continue running. If you can even see...
The second major EXTREME innovation: this is a team challenge. You compete in teams of four, and your clock only stops the moment your final member crosses the line. It's a true TEAM challenge.
What's the same?
Of course, you'll recognize the mud. It's at the same great venue and you'll receive the same top-quality event experience. It also supports a fantastic local charity, but instead of the Special Olympics KW, the EXTREME is supporting Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region.

THE COURSE
- THE OBSTACLES
- RUNNING RIVER – The first challenge: half a kilometre of running downstream at the mercy of the rains. If it’s a wet summer, you’ll be “running” through waist-high waters!
- MUD SWAMP – Think muddy water: you’re in for a soaking in our artificially-flooded swamp obstacle.
- WATER CANNON – Fight your way up a grassy 25% grade hill. You might need a rope, because we’re blasting you with our cannon from our perch at the top!
- MUD PIT – The pièce de résistance – an 80 foot long, 2 foot deep thick, muddy mess. Like running through toothpaste, but with the exact opposite effect.
- THE SPECS
- The loop is approximately 3.2km.
- Once you complete one loop, pick yourself out of the MUD PIT and do it again!
- The course is composed of dirt trail, wood chip trail, grass, mud, swamp water, and a running river.
- The course is subject to change, and notifications will be made of changes.
- THE SUPPORT
- Each obstacle will be marked.
- Waterloo Regional REACT, First Aid and clearly identified volunteers will assist you every muddy step of the way.
- Drinking water will be available on-course at the start/finish, and as you go through the start/finish after the first loop.
Get Dirty for Education!
All money raised at this event goes to the scholarship fund at Family and Children's Services of the Waterloo Region Foundation. FACS does excellent work in the community and we're thrilled to support it!
But that's not the only reason why your team should fundraise - there are also big prizes up for grabs, including thousands of dollars in gift certificates. Check out the What You Get section above!
To get started, just click the yellow "Donate" button above-left. You will collect pledges as a team, and you don't want to be the last-place team!

FAQ
- HOW DO I REGISTER MY TEAM? The team captain will register and pay for the team, and can add each member themself, or require each team member to add themselves at a point in the future (see below). You just need to create a team name and password.
- HOW DOES MY TEAMMATE JOIN MY TEAM? If a teammate is joining a team after the initial checkout, they would A) select "Add Addtional Team Members" B) select "Join a Team" and "Existing Team" C) choose the team type (eg. Men, Women, etc.), D) find the team name and enter the password (set by the team captain)
- I WANT TO REGISTER BUT I DON'T HAVE MY TEAM YET. You can still register and pay up front. But all team members must be registered by Wednesday, July 9. Registering without a team will not earn you a refund.
- HOW DO THE CUSTOM T-SHIRTS WORK? When you register, enter your team name - this will be emblazoned on your set of four t-shirts. For an additional $10, the team can have logos as well - but you must provide the artwork. The t-shirts are printed on July 1, so any information can be changed up to June 30 but must be final as of June 30.
- I'M HAVING PROBLEMS REGISTERING. Don't worry, we'll help you out. Contact RaceRoster at 1-888-749-3028 or support@raceroster.com
