RACE TO EDUCATE STUDENTS WITH AUTISM
Join us for our Annual 1 Mile FUN Run/Walk, 5K and/or 10K, all of which support Spectrum Academy and the education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders! The races are all-ages events that start and end at the school in North Salt Lake and follow scenic flat terrain along a paved nature trail. Winners take home a Thanksgiving turkey! We emphasize the ‘FUN’ in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk by encouraging participants to race by whatever means of locomotion they choose: running, walking, biking, skating, scooting, etc. A prize will be given to the most creative contestant. NEW this year: we’ve added a 10K as well as chip timing for the 5K and 10K! After the races, join us inside for our fabulous after-party, including refreshments, kids' activities, a raffle, and sponsor booths. Free t-shirt guaranteed if registered by Wednesday, October 29th. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ASD is a neurodevelopmental disability that leads to challenges with communication, behavior and social interactions that can persist througout a person's life. Currently, 1 in 47 children in Utah are identified with an ASD, almost twice the national average.
About Spectrum Academy
With two locations on the Wasatch Front (North Salt Lake and Pleasant Grove), Spectrum Academy is the only charter school in Utah to focus primarily on the unique learning needs of children with ASD. Through small class sizes, individualized instruction and an innovative social skills curriculum, we help students reach their fullest potential academically, socially and emotionally, so they may enjoy productive and successful futures. We educate ~900 students, K-12, from all across the Wasatch Front.
