The exciting New Moon Half & Quarter Marathon kicks off fun summer nights with both a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and a Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles). The event, which begins and ends in the heart of downtown Delaware, Ohio is open to runners and walkers and benefits the American Lung Association of Central Ohio.
The New Moon Half & Quarter Marathon is a party and celebration of that is fun on great summer nights - live music and sidewalk festival will create a festive post-event summer blast for you and all your friends and family.
The urban run course starts directly in the downtown of Delaware, takes you through the neighborhoods that make up the city, by the home of the Little Brown Jug, through the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, through the business district, to an exciting downhill finish back at the heart of downtown. The New Moon Half & Quarter Marathon is the must-do running and walking event of the summer.
Who can participant? You. The New Moon Half & Quarter Marathon encourages the participation of runners and walkers of all shapes, sizes and abilities. The course is open and fully supported for three hours. Walker must be able to walk at a 13:40 pace to complete the half marathon.
All runners and walkers receive an Official Finisher's Medal, gender-specific shirt, and great "kick-off to summer" post-race refreshments.

Race Day packet pick-up will begin at 4:30 pm in the New Moon Celebration Area at Downtown Delaware. To avoid waiting in line we encourage you to pick up your packet in advance. If you register the week of May 26, please allow 24 hours before going to pick-up your packet. Any registrations after Wednesday, May 28 can only be picked up at the race site.
The official charity partner for the New Moon Half & Quarter Marathon is the American Lung Association of Central Ohio. The Quarter Marathon Course will be open for 2 hours and the Half for 3 hours; walkers must be able to walk at a pace of 13:45 per mile to complete the half marathon within the scheduled time;
7 Aid Stations on course; an aide station at each mile and then another at the intersection of Winter St and Sandusky St for the half marathoners starting their 2nd lap.
Fantastic course support led by the community and residents of Delaware, the school system, fraternities and sororities, and more;
Entry to the Post Race Street Festival, starting at 7:30 pm featuring live music, light food, and summer drinks. The restaurants in the downtown area will have special discounts for participants and their families, open air seating, and the businesses will be extending the stores out onto the sidewalk.
A finisher's medal;
All finishers will be greeted at the finish line with an official New Moon medal. New Moon ambassadors will be there to put your well deserved medal around your neck.
Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the Greenswell website and on our Facebook so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary.
The Event Director and Safety Director will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race.
Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15 minute increments.
If heat is predicted, extra water will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures. If it is felt that it is unsafe for participants to start the race due to severe heat that race may be cancelled.
Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to inclement weather. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so the race personnel, medical staff, fire or police officers.
