SWIM TIME UPDATES. All participants are required to update their swim time before August 15.
Please follow the directions below to conduct a swim time trial and submit the update using the link below. Athletes who do not update their swim times will be placed in the second wave following the first wave of all athletes with updated times.
SWIM TIME UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Go to a local 25-yard pool.
(The vast majority of pools in El Paso are 25-yard. If you are out of the area, ask the pool staff.)
2. Time yourself (or ask a buddy to time you!) as you swim 400 yards giving it your best effort.
(400 yards is 8 out-and-back laps or 16 lengths of a 25-yard pool)
3. Submit your estimated 400-yard swim time HERE by August 15.
BONUS: Beginning August 1, lifeguards will be available for timing at Memorial, Armijo, and Hawkins. You will still be responsible for updating your own swim time at the link provided above.
YOUTH TALENT ID SERIES
Eagle in the Sun Triathlon is part of the Rocky Mountain Region Talent ID Series. The series is designed to foster development of young athletes ages 13 - 19. All races are non-draft format and spread across the regional states of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, and El Paso, Texas. The top 10 finishers at each event earn points toward a season end tally. The top 3 athletes in each division at the end of the series (totaling 12 athletes) will be rewarded with triathlon merchandise from series sponsors and an invitation to an elite skills camp in Colorado. The main purpose of this series is to encourage participation for young athletes, foster excitement in the Rocky Mountain Region, and ultimately develop competitors into the Olympic pipeline. Read more about the series HERE.
If you are not a USA Triathlon member, information on Youth memberships is available HERE.
