Rick Bown was a long- time runner and our friend. He passed away October 2009, during the Detriot Half-Marathon, doing what he loved, running. Rick was a coach and advisor to many runners in the area, and it was not unusual to see him helping another runner through a race.
Rick was also one of the first race directors in the area to introduce a race-walk category to his event, some 29 years ago. The River City Runners & Walkers Club, where Rick served on the Board of Directors, has chosen to remember him with a race in his memory.

Course Information
The Rick Brown Memorial race is an out & back, 8 Kilometer course, that is scheduled for USATF Certification by race day. It is mostly flat with 90% of the length on the Muskingum River Bike Path and the balance on Marietta's city streets. The start is on Hart Street behind Don Drumm Stadium, where the race will be headquartered. After leaving Hart & 6th Streets the race continues to follow the bike path to a turn-around behind the Washington County Fairgrounds then returns by the same route to finish on Fifth Street at the stadium.
There will be three water stops on the course at approx. 1 mile, 2-1/2 miles and 4 miles. Toilet facilities are available at the stadium. There will be refreshments at the stadium following the 8K.
