Kids Triathlon
This is a Free, Non-Timed, Non-Competitive Event. All Participants will Receive a
Race T-Shirt, Race Number, Event Swim Cap and BBQ to follow.
Registration for the kid’s events is at 8:00 am, Races Start at 9:00 am.
Please note there is no on-line registration for this event, just show up on race morning
Order of Races - 1st - 10 to 12 years, 2nd 8 & 9 years, 3rd 7 and Under
Swim - Kids can use any Swim Aids they require
Bike - Trikes and Training wheels are allowed, all participants must wear a helmet
Run – All running is done in the park
Parents are permitted to swim, ride or run with the kids

Please note that there is no Registration or Race kit Pick up on Saturday for the Sunday Races as in previous years!

Melmerby Triathlon
- 6:00 am - Transition opens to rack bikes
- 6:30 am - Registration / Race Kit Pick Up (6:30 am -8:00 am) in the registration tent
- Athletes Meeting 8:15 in the transition area
- Races start at 8:30 am in this order;
- Olympic 1.5km Swim, 40 km Bike, 10km Run
- Sprint 750m Swim, 23 km Bike, 5 km Run
- Try-A-Tri / Super Sprint 200m Swim, 10km Bike, 2km Run
- Post Race Lunch & BBQ – Pick up in the registration tent
- Awards to be presented as soon as the last person crosses the finish line

Things To Know
FYI
- Basic Course Outline for Sprint and Olympic – Complete Triangle Swim at the beach, one loop for Sprint, 2 loops for Olympic, “Swim to Bike” Transition is in the Beach Parking lot, Leave the beach and complete designated Bike Course, one loop for Sprint, two loops for Olympic, Bike to Run Transition is at the First Presbyterian Church, Run back to the beach (Finish Line) as directed by Volunteers and Signage
- Your bib color is associated with the directional signage so Olympic is Black (Black Bibs, Black Signs) Sprint is Blue (Blue Bibs, Blue Signs) Try-A-Tri White and Super Sprint is Green (Try-A-Tri and Super Sprint will follow Green Signs)
- All bikes will follow Yellow signs
- When you sign in you will receive a bag with your number on it for your running gear, your running gear bags must be delivered to the Pictou County Cycle truck in the transition area at the beach by 8:00 am, they will take your running gear to the “Bike to Run’ transition at the church
- You will get a sticker package if you are doing the sprint, Olympic or team
- Helmet Sticker – Must go on front of the helmet
- Bike sticker – Goes somewhere on your bike
- 2 Bib Numbers – Wear one on the front at all times and one goes on your run gear bag that will be transported to the Bike / Run Transition by Pictou County Cycle
- If you are on a team you wait by your bike for your swimmer and if you are running you must get yourself to the transition area at the church before your cyclist gets back from their ride, team members will share one transferable ankle chip which must be worn and transferred by each team member
- When you pick up your bike after the event you must show your bib number to claim your bike and the your bike sticker has to match the bib number
- All the maps are on the website at www.johnnymiles.ca and we will have printed copies and big poster size ones at registration
- There are 2 very important Landmarks that you should make yourself familiar with as you make your way to the beach, the Wilson Gas Bar / Store at the “T” in the road and the First Presbyterian Church on the right, the Gas Bar / Store is where you turn to start the 2nd loop of the bike course and the Church is the “Bike to Run” Transition
- Every turn will be marked with signs and pylons, if you see signs and pylons, do not ignore them, they mean you need to do something such as Turn or Go Straight, there will also be volunteers at these spots as well
- The roads are open so you need to obey all traffic rules unless otherwise directed
- Activelife Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic will be on site to do provide complimentary post race massages to any participant who wants one
- The Awards will take place as soon as the last participants crosses the finish line
- Be patient and be nice, there are a lot of changes this year and we are sure we haven’t though of everything so there may be some hiccups, please remember that we are all volunteers that are giving up a lot of our time so you can compete and enjoy your day, please, Just be Nice!
