8-16-2015 BENSON BEAR OBSTACLE CHALLENGE & MOSS ANNIVERSARY RACE

THE OBSTACLE COURSE - 5k & 10k Options

5K Option (Beginners/Intermediate/Fun Run): 3.1 CHALLENGING MILES of x-country and wooded terrain with 30+ obstacles and challenges on the famous "BENSON BEAR" obstacle challenge course in Benson, Vermont. 10K Option (Elite/Pros must select this option): 6.2 CHALLENGING MILES of x-country and wooded terrain with 50+ obstacles and challenges on the famous "BENSON BEAR" obstacle challenge course in Benson, Vermont. JOURNEYMAN DIVISIONS - Enter this division if you would like to run non-competitively, but still do our course and obstacles without performing penalties for failed obstacles. Upon crossing the finishline, you will recieve a medal, t-shirt and Thomas Dairy chocolate milk :-)

Top 3 finishers in these catagories will be recognized with prizes (Journeyman is exempt from prizes):

10K - ELITE MEN'S & WOMEN'S DIVISIONS

10K - ELITE MASTERS* (age 50+)

5K - MEN'S & WOMEN'S DIVISIONS

5K - MASTERS* (age 50+)

5K - YOUTH 14-18 - BOY'S & GIRL'S DIVISIONS

10K - YOUTH 14-18 - BOY'S & GIRL'S DIVISIONS

* Master's elgibility - Must be age 50+ as of race date

TEAMS: SPECIAL RECOGNITION for the largest team in attendance and the "fastest" team (times are averaged)!

ALL FINISHERS RECEIVE A MEDAL, T-SHIRT, BANANAS & THOMAS DAIRY CHOCOLATE MILK!! )

3 WATER STATIONS ON COURSE!!

SPECTATORS - FREE!!!

PARKING - FREE!!

WE RACE RAIN OR SHINE....SNOW OR SLEET!!! IN THE EVENT OF LIGHTNING, we will delay race until threat of danger has passed. HURRICANE CANCELLATION CLAUSE - In the event of very severe weather conditions where a State of Emergency has been declared, the event will be rescheduled.

PENALTY SYSTEM FOR FAILING AN OBSTACLE - MANDATORY OBSTACLE COMPLETION!!!

ELITE INDIVIDUAL (MEN & WOMEN) AND MASTER'S ELITE (MEN & WOMEN) - YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ENTIRE OBSTACLE "CORRECTLY." IF YOU FAIL ON THE 1ST ATTEMPT (beginning, middle or end of it), YOU MUST DO THE SPIDERMAN PUSHUP PENALTY DESIGNATED FOR THE OBSTACLE YOU FAILED....NO EXCEPTIONS OR YOU WILL BE DQ'ed. 50 SPIDERMAN PUSHUPS FOR LOOM, MONKEY BARS & TARZAN SWING. ALL OTHER OBSTACLES ARE 30 SPIDERMAN PUSHUPS.

ALL OTHER DIVISIONS - YOU ARE GIVEN "3" ATTEMPTS TO COMPLETE AN OBSTACLE. IF YOU FAIL ON THE 3RD TRY, YOU MUST DO THE PENALTY DESIGNATED FOR THAT OBSTACLE. NO EXCEPTIONS OR YOU WILL BE DQ'ed. THE PENALTY FOR ANY FAILED OBSTACLE IS 10 JUMPING JACKS.

Camping is not available on-site, but we have several nearby State Parks, BnB's and hotels in the Rutland-Addison County areas. Please see our website at the bottom of the page for lodging information.

TRANSFERS, REFUNDS, CANCELLATION POLICY

Entries are non-transferrable on the day of the event. However, you may transfer your entry to another race date or person if you notify us in writing via email to ShaleHillAdventure@aol.com BY WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE EVENT DATE YOU WERE PLANNING TO ATTEND.

NO REFUNDS for missed races, but we will consider crediting you for a future race if you contact us by the WEDNESDAY BEFORE THE EVENT DATE.
