For participating in Ottawa - 2015 Brain Injury Walk

My Story…

When I was hit by the minivan, on July 19, 2009 I was told that I'd suffered an acquired brain injury. I'd never heard of it, figured that it was bad, and rare. My doctor said that what I'd suffered was severe, but it's by no means rare. He said that another term for it is concussion, and that while mine is more severe than most suffered, the fundamentals of it are the same. He said that there's an injury like that in one person out of every twenty-six people, worldwide. Four years ago I decided that that number is scary-big, virtually unknown, and that people need to learn it. I initiated an awareness walk, to make that fact more known, and to enjoy the day of learning.
