Urban Perform (UP) is working to demolish Atlanta’s ‘fitness deserts’ by making exercise accessible and affordable.
Join us on February 21, 2015 as we run through Vine City, English Avenue and Washington Park neighborhoods, that are in the shadow of the Georgia Dome, to show that we are united in our support of making personal health a community effort!
In low-income communities, we often find food deserts and to combat that urban gardens are popping up. But, we cannot fight obesity by only increasing wholesome food opportunities. We must also increase opportunities to exercise. The 2014, CDC Physical Activity report showed that 58.9% of GA youth have no access to community centers in their neighborhoods. In Atlanta, Buckhead has 32 fitness centers, Midtown has 13 and Downtown Atlanta has 9. In English Avenue, Vine City and Washington Park, Urban Perform is the only full service fitness center.

About Urban Perform
We create health conscious changes for families in underserved communities by making fitness and nutrition both accessible and affordable.
Urban Perform (UP) is a non-profit organization making exercise accessible and affordable to underserved communities.
· Accessibility = UP provides a full service fitness facility for the English Avenue, Vine City and Washington Park communities. We provide summer and after school programs both at the gym and at places like Westside Atlanta Charter School. Additionally, we’re looking at other ways to bring fitness to areas in need like apartment complexes and churches.
· Affordability = We operate with a flat rate pricing system. Everyone under the age of 18 is free. For adults, the first visit is free. Subsequent visits or classes are just $2 each or $15 per month. Our affordability is made possibly by the generosity of others.
$3,500 to launch 2 new after school locations for Fall 2015!
Anyone who raises $50 or more will recieve the long sleeve UP t-shirt below!
