Veterans Memorial 5K 2015

The Cemetery, one of only 136 National Cemeteries in the entire country, opened in 1867. Since 1984, the non-profit Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corporation has raised money to purchase and clear land to expand Fayetteville National Cemetery. The purchases, since turned over to federal government, have more than tripled the size of the Cemetery. But with the passing of the WWII generation, Fayetteville National Cemetery gets closer to full every day. We recently purchased 2 acres of land, but had to borrow over $100,000 and still owe tens of thousands that must be paid before the property can be transferred. The Veterans Memorial 5K is our largest fundraiser. Please help us get rid of the mortgage!

Water will be provided along the course and road crossings are guarded.

The 5K course will begin near the entrance to the Fayetteville National Cemetery, 700 S. Government Blvd., but was substantially revised last year, thanks to completion of the trail to the north of the Cemetery. That new course will be used again this year.

We will begin the race by circling the Cemetery.
