NOTE – This years Triathlon will be much longer and more challenging than last years for the older age groups and just as much fun for the young ones! Rules
1. Have fun and be safe!!!
2. Respect each other . . . this is a fun race!!!
3. Respect the Park (no smoking or garbage)
4. TEAMS: the swimmer will wear a chip timer (provided) around the ankle, the swimmer will "tag" the biker in the transition zone at the bike rack; and transfer the chip timer to the biker who will attach to hisher ankle. When the biker returns he/she will tag out the runner at bike rack, and transfer the chip timer to the runner who will attach to his/her ankle and finish the race. All single entries will wear the ankle chip throughout the race.
5. Bikers will not touch the bike until a helmet is securely fastened to your noggin, we also highly recommend eye protection as this is an off road bike. You will follow volunteer instructions and walk/run your bike out of the transition zone to mount line. Upon return to the transition area you will follow instructions and dismount your bike immediately prior to the transition zone and walk/run your bike back to your place on the rack.
6. Passing Rule: the passer will call the pass at 3 metres and will pass on the left; if there is no opportunity for the passee to pull over while riding then he/she will pull hard right, put their feet on the ground while a pass occurs.
7. While riding on public road, paths or into congested areas please respect the rights of pedestrians, campers and hikers as this is their park too . . . keep your head up and eye on the ball.
Things to note
1. If you are nervous or a first timer for the open water swim and would like our volunteers to watch you a bit closer; please tell us at check-in and we will give you a different coloured swim cap to wear so we can easily identify you in the water. If you are not quite secure with the 500 metre open water swim; let us know and we can give you a zero time on the swim portion and release you on the bike portion after the first group of bikers has cleared the transition zone. (of course this would eliminate you from any timed prizes . . . but hey; it's all about having fun and being safe . . . so let's be real)
2. Strippers will be in place between the beach and transition zone to assist you with your wetsuit should you require that. Just flag one of the girls down and they'll get that suit off ya' before you can say "thanks for that".
3. HUG A VOLUNTEER
4. RECOGNIZE and THANK a SPONSOR
5. Have a great race and remember the motto around here is First: finish the race safe, Second: give it YOUR 100% and Third; take a deep breath of the fresh Cypress Hills air and really enjoy the day!
