Raise money for Sherry Craig
Hello, my name is Sherry. I was injured in July 2012 at the age of 44 when I accidently fell off the roof of my house (that I was painting) sustaining a spinal cord injury . I knew as soon as I landed on my back that there was something terribly wrong, as I couldn’t move my feet. I was later diagnosed as a T8-10 ASIA A Complete Paraplegic. I spent the next 5 months in rehab learning how to adapt to my new life in a wheelchair.
I have a wonderful husband, an extraordinary family and colleagues who have continued to support me throughout this life challenge.
Less than 4 months before my accident, I lived out one of my dreams and that was downhill skiing in the French Alps. Some of my other dreams have now changed to more basic things that I won’t mention here, and others like to return skiing in the Alps, walking barefoot on a beach, do maintenance tasks in and around the house and gardening to name but a few.
I have enjoyed nursing these last 27 years and am blessed that with the support of my employer, I was able to return working part-time.
One thing became clear to me shortly after my accident, and that was the importance of being physically active to help maintain my weight, improve my upper body/core strength, cardio and general well being. This ultimately led me to discover Walk It Off last year. Living out of Province and working, makes it more of a challenge for me to get to Walk If Off as often as I would like. Starting with last year’s 5K, I felt at home right away with the staffs and peers friendliness.
Any donation to my recovery and wellness program here at Walk It Off would be greatly appreciated.
