SOCCERFEST5K

Soccerfest started as a vision in 2010 to bring Soccer fans together and support the USA national team in their World Cup efforts in South Africa. We held the Cabbagetown Soccerfest in June of 2010 and got thousands of fans together to watch USA draw versus England in their first match. And so the concept was born…

In 2014, we were bigger and better: the Atlanta Soccerfest in Brookhaven Park on June 22nd drew 20,000 soccer fans to cheer on the USA against Portugal. We added a patriotic 5K and Fun Run as well as the first ever Soccer Arcade for kids. We partnered with Keep Kickin’ and all of our proceeds went to blood cancer research and patients. We were able to raise $20,000 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta through the Care-A-Thon.

Today, Soccerfest is still focused on holding awesome events for soccer fans of all ages through the Southeast. Our ultimate mission is to promote soccer and the love for Beautiful Game here in the US.

We're combining 5K team scoring and 3 on 3 soccer for a full day of athletic prowess and endurance! Teams can be 3-5 members and only the top 3 fastest times will "score" (cross country scoring). The 3 on 3 soccer will utilize Dragon Goals on short field and played in a round robin format. Games will consist of 2, 8 minute halves.

In addition to the 5K and 3 on 3, teams can compete for fundraising too to support Atlanta Contact Point. For each $50 raised by a team will subtract 1 minute of their total team time. Ex. The top 3 runners each ran the 5K in 20:00. their total time would be 3x20:00 -1:00 =59:00.

Our mis­sion is to cre­ate community-based mod­els to sup­port, edu­cate, and facil­i­tate com­pre­hen­sive edu­ca­tion and well­ness pro­grams which encom­pass sports, fit­ness, arts, nutri­tion, social/environmental respon­si­bil­ity, while also com­bat­ing the grow­ing prob­lems of inac­tiv­ity, vir­tual play, and poor eat­ing habits affect­ing youth and adults today.

Our vision is to pro­vide the Atlanta in-town com­mu­nity with inter­dis­ci­pli­nary indoor and out­door ini­tia­tives and recre­ation space(s) where chil­dren and adults of all socio-economic back­grounds can come together to play and learn.

We func­tion as cat­a­lyst for capac­ity build­ing efforts, while also pro­mot­ing the uti­liza­tion of alter­na­tive means of trans­porta­tion. There is an open gen­eros­ity and care in all our actions, in the way we value peo­ple and cul­tures …to acti­vate spaces and conversations.

To sup­port our mis­sion and with the endorse­ment of these orga­ni­za­tions, Atlanta Con­tact­Point hosts PLAY DAYS through­out the year at local city parks and pub­lic venues. The PLAY DAY EXPERIENCE is a free, fun-filled day of sports, fit­ness, nutri­tion, art, edu­ca­tions and sus­tain­able ini­tia­tives where local coaches and orga­ni­za­tions come together to facil­i­tate ini­tia­tives, drills and games for var­i­ous sports.

Limited parking Epworth Methodist Church 1561 McLendon Avenue, Atlanta GA 30307. Otherwise there is street parking around Candler Park and we strongly recommend taking MARTA Edgewood-Candler Park Station (about .5 mile)

5K starts 8:00am on Candler Ave near intersection with McLendon Ave.

PACKET PICK-UP/REGISTRATION

Friday, June 14, 2015 from 11:00am until 1:30pm at Big Peach Midtown. 800 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30308 Phone:(404) 602-9903 and Friday 4:00pm-7:00pm at SoccerFest in Candler Park.

FUNDRAISING

This event is in partnership with the Candler Park Music Fest and a fundraising event for Atlanta ContactPoint (ACP) is a Geor­gia 501©(3) non­profit orga­ni­za­tion estab­lished in 2012 to engage chil­dren and adults through the power of play.

If you signed up for 3 On 3 tourney you’ll be directed to the fields with SoccerFest to play your games later that day. More details to follow.

FOOD AND DRINK

Bananas, chips, water, PowerAde and vendor snacks. The SoccerFest is free to enter later in the day.
