Several course distances to chose from in the unique setting! The 5K is on paved roads, the 10K and half marathon start out on paved roads with the 5K together and thenwill be on trails through the Christmas Tree farm.
Packet pick up and registration on Friday, December 4 from 4-6pm at Elkhart's running store, Two Rivers Running Company at 411 East Jackson Street, (inside Elkhart Bike Shop) or on race day, from 7:30 am - 8:45 am at Eby's Plantation at 51669 CR 33 in Bristol. Race Day Registration available!
HEADS UP- there are several Eby tree locations and there is also a skating rink. NOT The right one. Please pay attention when you set your GPS! We will be basically at the corner of CR 4 and CR 33.
Directions from Indiana Tollroad exit 101: Left out of tollroad. Left at light on 120 approximately 3 miles. Left at the Mennonite Church (across from Bonneyville Mill). Continue on this road until it dead ends. Turn right, then immediately left. You will see the big red barn! Volunteers will show you where to park!
NOTE: Please note that shirts are not included in the registration fees so that we can keep the costs down. What is included is course set up, Finisher awards, AG awards, Refreshments, childrens crafts and free kids fun run! We did offer OPTIONAL Finisher Jackets, but that order has gone in.
There is plenty of parking. Dress in layers, last year it was pretty nippy!
All race distances will start out together on paved roads, the 5K course. Then the 10Kers and half marathoners will head into the tree farm for a jaunt around that with a section through a prviate forest. The paved section will allow you to warm up your legs and be ready to pick up your feet in the wooded section. 10K: 5K paved, 5K trail. 1/2 Marathon: 5K Paved, 5K trail. Repeat this loop 5K paved, 5K trail, then last .7 miles on the road.
We will also have a free Kids Fun Run and they can hang back in our heated tented area and do a project and hang out with Santa while the others are out running or walking on the course.
The trail is mostly on a path that cars and gators go on regularly, so it is more of a fire trail type path...with the exception of the mile in the forest, where is gets a bit more narrow. However, it's mostly flat and not that technical ie not rooty and rocky where you will be running.
A special opportunity - you feel like you are far away when out on the course. Experience the quiet and peace that only nature can offer.
Afterwards, you can pick out a tree to take home or cut one down. [This is a tree farm, so they are groves that are planted to be harvested.] There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh pine in your home that is just wonderful around the holidays! Trees are not included with the price of the run!
This race benefits Ribbon of Hope Cancer Ministry which directs a team of volunteers to support people diagnosed with cancer through their diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
ONE LAST THING: There are several farms in this area,, so please be sure to come to the red barn at 51669 CR 33. Turn left off of 120 across from Bonneyville Mill until it deadends. then right and immediate left. Repeat: This is not the Ebys on SR 120!!
