Runners and walkers will gather at the bottom of the steps outside the Gordie Howe Entrance at The Joe on Steve Yzerman Drive. From there, the 5K will begin at 8 a.m. up Atwater Street to St. Aubin Street and back along the River Walk and through the doors of Joe Louis Arena toward the finish line at center ice.

The finish line for the race is on the covered ice of The Joe, just below the video board. As you run into the building, you and your family in the stands will be able to see your name on the big screen just before you cross the line and receive your commemorative finisher’s medal.

Please Note: There will be race photographers on the course and at the finish line to take your picture. These photos will be posted online following the event. Upon finishing and receiving your medal, you will be directed into the stands to visit your supporters. There will be plenty of time during the post-race 5K Festival to go back onto the ice and take your own picture at the finish line.

FREE Race Kit Pickup will take place at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (1845 E. Big Beaver Rd.) during the below dates and times:

• Thursday, Sept. 8 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.
• Friday, Sept. 9 from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Please Note: You must provide valid proof of identification to pick up your race kit. If you are picking up for someone else, you must bring their registration confirmation number.

Race Day Pickup Available:

There will be a $5 charge for participants who wish to pick up their race kits the day of the Hockeytown 5K at Joe Louis Arena starting at 6:00 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female athletes.

1st Place: Team-Signed Red Wings Jersey

2nd Place: Player-Signed Hockey Stick

3rd Place: Player-Signed 8x10 Photo

Special Hockeytown 5K Awards Will Be presented for Best Dressed and Best Group.

Anyone wishing to watch family or friends in the race are more than welcome to attend. There will be spectator areas at the start and finish lines, and at various spots along the course. All doors to Joe Louis Arena will be open. There will be a suggested $5 entry donation for adults at the door, and spectators under the age of 18 receive free entry. All of the proceeds from that donation will go directly to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation.

All spectators are also welcome to attend the 5K Festival immediately following the Hockeytown 5K.

• All 5K participants and spectators are welcome to stick around for the festivities which include:
• Photo opportunities at the finish line at center ice, with the Zamboni and with retired jersey and championship banners
• Interactive hockey games
• Face painters, balloon twisters, caricaturists and more
• The 5K Festival will end at 11:00 a.m.

All 5K participants and spectators can park inside the Joe Louis Arena Parking Garage for $10 per car.
